Temple
A Sacred Scent with Notes of:
Warm Woods | Palo Santo | Ember | Amber | Frankincense & Myrrh
This is a ritual candle around space. I spent a lot of my childhood years growing up in a traditional church. There’s something that always stuck with me around the smell as I walked into the sanctuary, a sacred smell of sorts. It seemed a special reminder and invitation marking the sacred reality of the presence of God, with us. In Bible times, throughout both the Old & New Testaments they were familiar with the language of the Temple. Today we may call the space we formally gather together with Him, a sanctuary. We also acknowledge the incredible honor bestowed on us by Jesus, calling our own bodies, temples of Christ.
This candle is a shot at that “sacred” scent and the invitation and reminder of God with us. Whether gathered in a temple or honoring the amazing reality of being Christ’s temple, this candle invites you to settle into the richness, sacredness, and beauty of His presence with and in us.

A Liturgy for the Lighting of this Candle
Welcome Father, Son and Spirit.
I take this moment to slow down.
I make room for you now.
Would you fill and inhabit the home of my heart
just as you’ve inhabited your home
in other sacred ordained places?
I recognize the miracle that is
heavenly space and humanity’s space
overlapping together as one.
I take a moment to breathe in, to notice,
to savor and share that which is beautiful and good.
To open my heart to delight,
and to submit to your loving rest and rule,
whether any further words are spoken here or not.
Would you expose my hiding places
and cover me with your graces?
Turn my eyes to all I do not see of you,
and my ears to all I do not hear.
As you do, may the fragrance of knowing
you fill my heart
just as it fills this room.
